rain droplets and a brick

We have been experiencing rain today due to an upcoming storm. As soon as it stopped, i took the chance of taking photos of rain droplets and here they are.

This kind of weather makes me crave for comfort food. And speaking of comfort food, this reminds me of one of my all-time favorites… the onion brick. Yes, a very thick brick of onion rings.

This brick consists of layers upon LAYERS of mildly spicy, lightly battered onion rings deep fried to a crisp paired with bbq sauce and remoulade. So yummy! Oh how i wish i could copy the restaurant’s recipe and cook this at home.

And here’s sleepy Tiger enjoying the warmth of my laptop. This kind of weather makes me sleepy too.

Feeling relaxed on a cool rainy day.

travel theme: edge

Living a busy life. we experience being worried, get tensed and be anxious. Sometimes we tend to be living on EDGE… being distraught or deeply upset over some things that did not turn out right according to plans. Some of these are inevitable. But… a good and simple relaxation may do wonders. I need not go to a luxurious and expensive spa to get relaxed. I have my own easy ways to feel better.

  • taking deep breaths –  i close my eyes and do deep breaths slowly in or out. Believe me, this works.
  • finding something to distract myself – i sit down on the sofa, turn on tv and watch my favorite Lifestyle tv programs.
  • stroking my kitty’s coat – this really works because as i hear my cat purr it also gives me that certain contentment and happiness. It has been proven that animals really do have calming effects and they help us fight depression, loneliness and anxiety.
  • getting my camera and taking photos – i need not go far, i just visit my garden and take lots of photos of flowers in bloom. This really soothes my nerves.

I took these photos this morning. Almost all my cattleya orchids are now flowering. I love the shiny drops of rain hanging on the delicate and curly EDGE of the petals. I feel good by just looking at them.

Some may have their own ways of battling stress and it sure would help a lot if you find time to “stop and smell the roses”.

a word a week photo challenge: bisect

We’re having nasty weather today because of a super typhoon but i’m glad that late this afternoon the rain has stopped. I was feeling lazy the whole day and this weather makes me want to just snuggle up in bed with the kitties.

This week’s theme for A Word A Week Photo Challenge is BISECT. I really don’t have that much photos about scenery but i would like to share these photos that i think could fit in the challenge.

Here’a photo of a pink wildflower. Notice how the clear focus in the middle bisects the entirety of the photo.

Here’s another photo of a leaf which is full of rain droplets that look like crystal beads that glisten. The leaf tends to divide the photo diagonally.
