My week has been hectic but yesterday afternoon with a SPARE time on my hand, i picked a lot of flower buds in my garden and made leis. Afternoon is the best time to pick these buds as they open up at night and gives out its sweet delightful scent.

Dainty little buds…

I turned to leis…

I even playfully formed a heart…

Sampaguita also known as Philippine jasmine is the EPITOME of beauty and elegant fragrance. More than a national flower, it is often used as garlands and corsage during graduation ceremonies and in welcoming guests as well as adornments and offerings for the altar and other religious festivities. It’s pure white color (a NEUTRAL color) symbolizes peace and purity.

And speaking of pure white… sharing with you a photo of Star as white as snow.

Happy Sunday 🙂

my e-journal: flowers and leis and dark sky

I picked a lot of flower buds in the garden this morning. I made leis out of them and here they are. Photos are taken at different time intervals hence you will notice the opening of the petals.

Sampaguita is a member of the jasmine flowers family. It is one of the national flowers of the Philippines with Waling-Waling being the other. It is usually made into necklaces and a popular and traditional offering for the newly-graduates, a welcome offering to visitors and flower offering at the altar.

It rained this afternoon and it made me lazy. I feel like i just want to snuggle in the couch and cuddle with my kitty Tiger. Tiger is a cuddle baby, unlike kitty Star whom i could only cuddle when she’s sleepy. Anyway, i welcome the rain and the soothing air it brings. I think the rainy season has started.

As for my leis, i carefully placed them at the altar as offering.

my e-journal: a cluster of ___ (guess what?), flowers and cupcakes

Before anything else, starting today, i would be posting some of the things i do from day to day. Well, not doing it everyday but i wish i could especially if there’s really some interesting stuff to share with you. Anyway, i would label it as my e-journal and this is my first entry.

While walking around the garden this morning, i chanced upon this all clustered up at the doorstep. I think the pattern they made is pretty awesome.

The scent of the citrus tree flowers is so refreshing. Every twig has flower bulbs ready to open. Sooner, i would be harvesting lovely fruits from this tree.

My jasmine is in full bloom too and emitting a sweet scent especially in the evening. Sometimes i pick some unopened ones and make leis out of them.

It rained last night and i love the raindrops on the zamia leaves.  They look like heaven-sent crystal beads that are cooling the plants during this hot summer days.

I could stay a while longer in my garden but i really need to do some errands. It’s enrollment time and off i go to my daughter’s school then had a very late lunch at the mall. Here’s what we had for dessert… cupcakes.

The cupcakes are from the newly-opened Vanilla Cupcake Bakery and they taste so heavenly good. Going back again to try other flavors.

Well, it’s been a busy day but it’s all worth it. By the way, can you guess what’s in the first photo forming a cluster? Not sure what it is? click here for the answer.

weekly photo challenge: a day in my life

A typical day for me starts early. Waking up late makes my head ache. Breakfast, chores and more chores follow soon after and i don’t want to bore you talking about them.

Some free time gives me the chance to visit my garden and finding flower buds ready to bloom and some have opened up to reveal their sweet scent. Here are some of them, photos taken at different times of the day.

I had some cheese curls for snacks. I know it isn’t a healthy snack but got to give in to my cravings for now.

I also sliced a lemon to make a refreshing iced lemon water. Well, it’s different from a lemonade. I just put some slices of lemon in plain cold water, no sugar added please. Ahh, so good! They say that lemon in water has medicinal benefits as it helps in cleansing the body and aids in digestion.

I usually retire at 10pm and when i go up the stairs towards my room, it’s like i’m the Mother Hen with my girl Kristina, my princess Star, and my adorable handsome adopted kitty Tiger following me. They all sleep with me in the room. Kristina on my side, Star would be near my feet (sometimes on my pillow) and Tiger just stays at the hallway.

About 2am, i suddenly woke up finding 2 big eyes staring at me. It’s Star and she displaced my Shrek stuffed toy and found her in his place instead. Oh kitty, how did you manage to get there? Well, Star slept there all night long.

When i woke up this morning, i found Star here. She’s waiting for me to get up so she could have her breakfast. Oh, and i could hear Tiger meowing already and definitely hungry. Unlike Star, Tiger is more vocal. Almost always, kitty Star just communicates by just staring at me.

Oh well, time to feed the fur babies and make myself a cup of coffee.
