christmas 2017

From my family and furmily,

Marwind, a german shepherd who will soon turn 3yrs
Rafraf, a native local aspin dog that i adopted from the province. He is 2yrs old.
Tobi, a shitzu who just turned 5yrs
Kristina, my very first pet who is already 11 yrs old. Don’t let her age fool you, she is still a puppy at heart.
Star, (white persian cat; middle photo) my princess… my first cat. She will be turning 6 yrs at the end of 2017.
Boots, (gray persian cat) a foster fail.
Tiger, (white and orange cat) my 2nd cat. I adopted him from the shelter to be Star’s playmate. I just celebrated his 5th year adoptversary last October 2017.
Kuting, (gingercat) previously one of the outside cats that i feed but made him an indoor cat because he is just too sweet to be an outside cat.
Ashton, (tabby) i rescued him last 2015 as a teeny-weeny kitten fitting the palm of my hand. Now, he is a big boy who loves to eat.
Goldie, (black cat) a rescue. From a skinny, baldy, hungry, scarred cat he turned out to be a beautiful cat and i was surprised that he actually has semi-long coat.
Puti, (first photo) my special needs cat. Because she is deaf, sometimes her meows are so funny.

Also, from my outside cats (last photo),

Big Mama, Big Boy, Trico, TepTep and Lily.

and………………………..  lastly from AKI, a brand-new addition to my furmily. As in super brand-new as he just arrived at this very moment,

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Side Story:  While doing this post my son arrived home and surprised me with a new kitty…  his Christmas gift to me. Oh my gosh, truly unexpected and i cried with joy.. Here he is… AKI, a cute addition to my big furmily. Welcome home sweet baby.

Peace, Love and Happiness to all.

Weekly Photo Challenge: 2017 Favorites

a jolly bee

I love taking photos of flowers after the rain. Rain droplets are awesome. Each and every one of them contains a clear miniature reflection of images. And they glitter like crystal beads.

But.. one photo gave me a surprise. Did i’ve just taken a photo of a bee? I zoomed it in and there it was… a bumble bee.

Did you see it? It’s at the upper right side of the photo. Here it is…

Today’s weather is awesome. The sun is shining but i could feel some cool breeze in the air. A lot of birds are flying by and made my front yard a stopover. Since i still have lots of leftover birdseed and sunflower seeds, i usually scatter some in front of the main door. While the birds are busy eating, the kitties are so happy watching them.

Here’s Ashton and Kuting having a wonderful day watching live cat tv.

cute cat videos

I am so tired of doing house chores today. No worries, Tiger is here to the rescue. As soon as i lay down on the sofa he would come by my side and give mommy a soothing back massage. He’s such a sweet and lovable cat.

Do you want to see him in action? All four paws doing a back massage. Read here if you want to read Tiger’s adoption story.

Here’s another video showing Ashton and Kuting grooming each other. Read their rescue and adoption story here.

I am quite happy that it is raining today. The summer heat has been so terrible and rain provides a lot of relief. So, what to do on a cool and rainy day… warm cuddles with the kitties.

The Daily Post: Daily Prompt IMPRESSION

a conversation with a stupid neighbor

While in the kitchen, i was alarmed by a succession of pellet gunshots coming from a neighbor’s house. I could see that he was targeting the wifi antenna on the roof of another neighbor whose house is just adjacent to mine. From my kitchen window, i could see that he is really hitting it because of the sound that it created upon hitting a metal object. He had the guts to aim at the wifi antenna because he knows that the house is vacated. And from the corner of my garage i could see him firing his pellet gun just everywhere hitting cans, rocks and plants. It looks like a machine gun with a big cartridge. I became so worried that he might hit someone or any of the pets or other stray animals in the street. Of course i have to do something. I went out and talked to this stupid neighbor. Here’s a TRANSCRIPT of our conversation.

Me: Is that a pellet gun? (i pretended i didn’t know)

Stupid neighbor: Yes. (he is totally avoiding seeing me eye to eye)

Me: Can you please stop firing it cause it may cause harm especially to cats. You see, i suspected that one of my outside cats got hit by a pellet gun.

Stupid neighbor: No, i just fire at one black cat because he jumps on my car and poo in my yard. The nerve!! What a stupid idiot!!! And i thought, i have a black cat that i regularly feed and luckily never stray away and never left my terrace since he walked in.

Me: Can you just shoo the cats away instead of firing at them with a pellet gun. It is very dangerous.

Stupid neighbor: It wouldn’t kill the cat, this is just a pellet gun. Oh my gosh, he is so airy, conceited, arrogant, stupid and an idiot. Pellet guns could kill. He doesn’t even have a drop of common sense. What a stupid idiot!!! The stupid neighbor doesn’t have any respect for animals. I wonder how he treats his family. I could really feel my blood boiling but i tried to keep my cool.

Me: Please, don’t shoot at cats. It could really hurt and kill them.

After our conversation, i’ve never heard of any pellet gunshots anymore today and i am hoping i would not hear it again forever. That stupid neighbor just made me very angry… boiling angry.

Upon arriving home i cuddled up with Tiger. Among all the kitties, he has the softest fur. Slowly, i could feel i am getting relaxed and Tiger is also getting relaxed as he really loves being cuddled.

Cats are really wonderful and magnificent creatures. They help in lowering the anxiety level. They calm the nerves, lower stress and soothe one’s feeling. Which by the way the stupid neighbor doesn’t know and see. Okay, forget about the stupid neighbor… hey Tiger, more cuddle time please. Mommy needs more…

In response to The Daily Post daily prompt: UNSEEN.

my forever

I have a complicated love life. Married twice and both ended in failures.

When i got married the first time, i never thought it will end. We had so many dreams and so many plans and a lot of promises but things did not turn out the way it is supposed to be. Things happen like major disagreements, problems in finances, immaturity, incompatibility and the relationship ended.

Again, I wasn’t lucky the second time around in searching for that chance to be happy again. I thought that maybe this time it would last forever. How wrong i was.. there’s no FOREVER. The relationship collapsed because of lies, deception, cheating and empty promises. The act of cheating and lying are definitely not mistakes because they are intentional and that’s why it was so hurting. I found it really hard to move past the hurt when TRUST was broken so there was no use for me to be in that kind of relationship anymore. The more i stay in the relationship, the more it was hurting me so getting out of that is the best decision ever … i’ve  felt that URGENT need to escape so i could maintain my sanity otherwise i would really go crazy dealing with too much anger. Oh well, enough of these dramas.

Let’s kick the blues away by starting the day with a smile and be happy.

20160916_084418aaa

And one of my sources of happiness are… There’s Star, Tiger, Boots, Kuting, Ashton and my new foster Puti that bring so much smile and happiness. There’s Marwind, Kristina, Rafraf and Tobi that make me laugh when they are acting like goof balls. (Visit my About page to see their photos).

Among my kitties, these two are really BFFs. They groom each other, sleep together and play together. I love them forever.

sentimental value

It is fine to keep things from the past but we just have to be sure that these would not clutter our present. It is just a matter of determining which ones give us happiness and fond memories.

Holding on to a little Santa CANDLE with fondness may seem a bit strange to some but for me it is meaningful and important. It represents the number of years when i had to finally move out of my parents’ home. I clearly remembered buying this cute and lovely candle way back in 2000 when we moved into a rented house while our new home is under construction. Tiny it may seem but it has been one of the decors every Christmas season in my own home since then and it is now on its 16th year. Quite a feat for an itty bitty candle don’t you think?

Meanwhile, the kitties are getting crazy playing with a used red ribbon. Endless fun and enjoyment with a thing of no value.

Have a happy weekend everyone.

source of happiness

I am back to my old routines now and life goes on. My family grieved because of my father’s passing but we are definitely moving on. We just have to cherish all the memories and of course create happy ones too.

One of the best entertainers for me are my kitties. Watching them really makes me smile. I guess i needed that extra dose of happiness these days.

DARING is the way to go for my kitty Kuting. He loves sitting like this. “Honey you really made me smile. Thank you.”

dainty as a cotton candy

I have a new favorite flower… COTTON CANDY. That’s right. It is really called cotton candy, a popular air plant. Actually it’s name is Tillandsia and cotton candy is just one of its hybrids. I searched online and I’ve known that air plants are so easy to maintain. It doesn’t need soil to grow and would just need some misting depending upon how hot the climate is. If it is unbearably hot, the plant needs to be dunked in water for quite a while and drip dry before displaying it again.

The reason why it is called cotton candy is because of its dainty soft blush to bright pink flowers that look so deliciously soft and pretty to eat like a fairy floss.

I found this plant during one of my shopping trips. Since i am unsure of where to place it as it needs to be in a semi-shade to bright light places and most importantly where the cats couldn’t reach it, i just took some photos of its flower. I promise myself that i would visit the plant nursery shops near my village and look for cotton candy hoping that i would get it at a much lower price. The ones i saw at the mall cost P200.00 or about US 4.30 per plant.

In the meantime, i am sharing these photos for your eyes to feast on.

For more good vibes, here’s a photo (grabbed from my son’s file) of my 2 rescued kitties Ashton and Kuting. Although both are puspins or domestic short hair native cats, they are exactly OPPOSITES in terms of manners. While Ashton, the gray tabby loves cuddle, Kuting the gingercat is still a bit hesitant for cuddles. Ashton is not at all impressed by the laser dot but Kuting loves to play with it non-stop. Kuting has a soft meow but he is the talkative one while Ashton rarely meows. But there’s this one SIMILARITY with the two of them that always make me smile… it’s the way they sit. So cute isn’t it?

20160623_000143aaa

(Note: no worries about Kuting’s tail. It was shaved by the vet for his tail docking. I found Kuting’s lower tail already dried sort of mummified due to an injury probably because of a fight with other feral cats. The vet docked his tail as well as neutered him and he is fine ever since and became an indoor cat from then on. Read more about him here.)

It’s a rainy Sunday out here but i love it.  🙂

no partner, no problem

I only have four flowering plants in my garden. Oh well, blame it on the dogs because they destroyed almost all my plants, broke a lot of terracotta pots, trampled and messed with good soil that i was supposed to use for planting. I always wake up in the morning with the sight of a very messy and dirty garage with pieces of chewed up plants scattered everywhere. It stopped when there’s no more pots to break and plants to chew on.

At the onset of rainy season, i noticed that my two gardenia plants started to bloom. I often wonder why plants love rain WATER. As i search the net for answers, i found out that rain water is slightly acidic and it contains some organic matter that plants love and need to thrive and bloom.

20160627_093532aaa

My dogs Marwind and his partner in crime Raf-raf  (click my ABOUT page to see their photo) most likely knew that they should not mess with this plant as it is included in the list of toxic plants that i found in the ASPCA website. Now i know why they were spared. If you’re interested to know the complete listing of toxic and non-toxic plants to dogs, here’s the link.

And speaking of PARTNERS, here are photos of my adorable buddies.

As always, Tiger is my ever loyal laptop buddy. The moment i open my laptop he will jump on the table and flop himself right away to catch my attention then he’ll take a nap.

20160625_150643aaa

Here’s Boots with that mellow stare as if begging me to give him a piece of my sandwich. Boots is my all-time food buddy as he’ll always at my side when i eat. Well, he wins most of the time as i give him the chicken treat that i personally prepare for him. He loves boiled chicken meat.

20160628_143750aaa

Here’s the ever so playful chubby Ashton who loves to sleep on top of the laptop and is also my alternate laptop buddy.

20160628_135833_001aaa

And at the end of the day… here’s my adorable sleep buddy Star. She instantly made one of my pillows her own but that’s okay. (Umm … mom i think you need to clean my nose now to remove those food marks so i would look prettier , haha.)

20160628_021424aaa

No partner in life.. no problem. My furry partners keep me company and i adore them to bits.

It’s a wonderful day. Don’t forget to smile 🙂

of raindrops and curves

Summer is over.. or is it? Today’s temperature reached 32 degrees and it was too hot. It is supposed to be rainy season but rain only visits about once a week and that is very strange. Anyway, i snapped some photos of yellowbells in the garden after a heavy downpour last week. It was really a relief and i literally welcomed it with open arms.

I love taking photos of raindrops on flowers and leaves. They are like heaven-sent crystal gems that shine and sparkle as touched by the little ray of sunshine. I’m sure the flowers must have been so thankful as it quenches all its nooks and CURVES.

20160615_170446a

And speaking of CURVES… show them your curves my babies…

Here’s Ashton showing you his curves… his big belly curves 🙂

20160611_124233a

Here’s Kuting donning the same pose and showing you his curves (oops! not his machoness haha because he’s already neutered)

20160610_171446a

Their goofiness and playfulness always make me smile.

Wishing everyone a happy Wednesday 🙂
