shades of red

Note to self today:

Live life one day at a time…

Stop for a while and enjoy the little things in life like the beauty of the flowers… so brightly colored, loving and embracing the warmth of the sun…

to have more laughter, less stress, to let go of negativity and just enjoy life.

As always, the song Christmas in our Hearts is the first Christmas song i hear every September 1 … looking forward to greater things up ahead.

Hello September… Hello BER months.

In response to The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Structure

red velvety flower and gingers

This LOCAL red velvety flower is called cockscomb. While some really grow these plants i also see them as wildflowers and commonly growing in vacant lots. I was surprised to see some of these plants on my planter just outside my fence and i remembered that a neighbor has been growing these in her garden and i’m sure that some of the seeds were just blown by the wind. I am not protesting though as they are so gorgeous.

And… speaking of reds, my gingercats are happily modelling a red collar. (Note: red cats are also referred to as gingers, marmalade or orange cats.) This collar is TIGER’s but i let KUTING wear it too. Let’s see who wears it better.

Looks like my adorable models are having fun. Yes, mommy is having fun too because they look so handsomely cute.

almost there

As promised, here’s my 2nd installment of a series of photos about the flowers in my garden. Today, some of the buds opened up but younger ones will surely bloom by tomorrow… yes almost there.

I was hoping for a more vivid and bright photos but the WIND is preventing me from doing that so some of my photos looked a bit blurred and dreamy. I also tried taking photos of the butterflies feasting on its nectar but they were so elusive.

20160729_113941aaa

Since not all buds have unfolded, more photos coming soon tomorrow.

By the way, Boots is my laptop buddy for today. He’s so sound asleep but i just couldn’t resist his sweet face so i give him kisses and chin rubs from time to time.

Wishing everyone a happy weekend.

ready to bloom

I woke up this morning finding Star intently staring at me. I noticed that it’s only 6:30am and since i was feeling a bit lazy i stayed tucked in bed, watched the early news and finally went downstairs at 8:30am. I was greeted by all the other kitties and my son told me why i was late in waking up and informed me it’s actually 11:30am. Oh my gosh, my wall clock maybe stopped in the middle of the night and was 3 hours late. Poor fur babies, late feeding time today.

“You’re late mom, come feed me… i’ve been waiting for hours.”

It was a stressful morning doing all the chores simultaneously. Anyway, seeing these flower buds in my garden made my day. They are so ready and UNSTOPPABLE to burst open. For sure, i would find them in full bloom tomorrow. Ooh, i couldn’t wait.

This plant is called garlic vine and is also known as garlic creeper because of the garlicky smell of the leaves and flowers when crushed. When in full bloom, they are a sight to behold. More photos coming soon…

cheery and bright

Colorful, vibrant and cheery lantana flowers that lined the side walk are for the eyes to FEAST on. As i begin to photograph them a happy butterfly is as enthusiastic as me as it began to fly from one flower to another. It also feasted on their sweetness feeding on nectar.

20160718_122828aaa

The butterfly is so elusive as i try to take some photos. And almost missed it.

20160718_123217aaa

Yey, gotcha.. i almost missed again.

20160718_123033aaa

Oops, it flew… it’s almost out of range.

20160718_123226aaa

And finally, the butterfly is in the range and i guess this is the best shot.

20160718_123234aaa

I looked so silly hopping from one flower to another just to take some photos but it’s fun.

Happy Wednesday! And to add brightness to your day, here’s Ashton my laptop buddy for today showing off his whiskers and his itty-bitty tongue. Please enjoy!

they brighten up my day

Flowers make me happy. It lifts up my mood and makes me cheery. If only i could display flowers inside the house then i would be happier. But i am afraid the kitties will just make a mess of it as i have experienced having one of my indoor plants in a glass vase got broken because of their wild chasing. For now i would just enjoy taking photos.

Flowers are beneficial to a person’s emotion. I believe that it’s because of their bright colors and a connection to nature. Nature also makes us feel better as it soothes and eases our stress and anxiety away.

20160701_153823aaa

There’s also one very important part of my life that always brightens up my day.. It’s Star. Here’s a photo i took of her in the morning when i woke up. She’s up and about and greets me hello with a soft meow and an invitation to caress her soft fur. Isn’t she lovely?
20160703_094205aaa

Star stays most of the time in my bedroom . She is not FORBIDDEN but free to go downstairs as she pleases but she seldom stays longer. My only princess definitely hates rough play and wild chasing among the four princes. She is the mellow and laid back type and my bedroom is her peaceful refuge.

It’s #TBT or throwback Thursday. Here’s another photo of Star playing with my ipad when she’s just about 7 months old… actually we were both enjoying answering the word hunt game.

Happy Thursday to everyone. I hope i made you smile today.  🙂

of raindrops and curves

Summer is over.. or is it? Today’s temperature reached 32 degrees and it was too hot. It is supposed to be rainy season but rain only visits about once a week and that is very strange. Anyway, i snapped some photos of yellowbells in the garden after a heavy downpour last week. It was really a relief and i literally welcomed it with open arms.

I love taking photos of raindrops on flowers and leaves. They are like heaven-sent crystal gems that shine and sparkle as touched by the little ray of sunshine. I’m sure the flowers must have been so thankful as it quenches all its nooks and CURVES.

And speaking of CURVES… show them your curves my babies…

Here’s Ashton showing you his curves… his big belly curves 🙂

Here’s Kuting donning the same pose and showing you his curves (oops! not his machoness haha because he’s already neutered)

Their goofiness and playfulness always make me smile.

Wishing everyone a happy Wednesday 🙂

leis

My week has been hectic but yesterday afternoon with a SPARE time on my hand, i picked a lot of flower buds in my garden and made leis. Afternoon is the best time to pick these buds as they open up at night and gives out its sweet delightful scent.

Dainty little buds…

20160527_165645aaa

I turned to leis…

I even playfully formed a heart…

Sampaguita also known as Philippine jasmine is the EPITOME of beauty and elegant fragrance. More than a national flower, it is often used as garlands and corsage during graduation ceremonies and in welcoming guests as well as adornments and offerings for the altar and other religious festivities. It’s pure white color (a NEUTRAL color) symbolizes peace and purity.

And speaking of pure white… sharing with you a photo of Star as white as snow.

Happy Sunday 🙂

travel theme: edge

Living a busy life. we experience being worried, get tensed and be anxious. Sometimes we tend to be living on EDGE… being distraught or deeply upset over some things that did not turn out right according to plans. Some of these are inevitable. But… a good and simple relaxation may do wonders. I need not go to a luxurious and expensive spa to get relaxed. I have my own easy ways to feel better.

  • taking deep breaths –  i close my eyes and do deep breaths slowly in or out. Believe me, this works.
  • finding something to distract myself – i sit down on the sofa, turn on tv and watch my favorite Lifestyle tv programs.
  • stroking my kitty’s coat – this really works because as i hear my cat purr it also gives me that certain contentment and happiness. It has been proven that animals really do have calming effects and they help us fight depression, loneliness and anxiety.
  • getting my camera and taking photos – i need not go far, i just visit my garden and take lots of photos of flowers in bloom. This really soothes my nerves.

I took these photos this morning. Almost all my cattleya orchids are now flowering. I love the shiny drops of rain hanging on the delicate and curly EDGE of the petals. I feel good by just looking at them.

Some may have their own ways of battling stress and it sure would help a lot if you find time to “stop and smell the roses”.
