cheery and bright

Colorful, vibrant and cheery lantana flowers that lined the side walk are for the eyes to FEAST on. As i begin to photograph them a happy butterfly is as enthusiastic as me as it began to fly from one flower to another. It also feasted on their sweetness feeding on nectar.

The butterfly is so elusive as i try to take some photos. And almost missed it.

Yey, gotcha.. i almost missed again.

Oops, it flew… it’s almost out of range.

And finally, the butterfly is in the range and i guess this is the best shot.

I looked so silly hopping from one flower to another just to take some photos but it’s fun.

Happy Wednesday! And to add brightness to your day, here’s Ashton my laptop buddy for today showing off his whiskers and his itty-bitty tongue. Please enjoy!

weekly photo challenge: fresh

Kissed by the sun, these flowers open up revealing its bright colored petals. They are called Vietnam Rose and comes in a variety of colors like pink, violet, yellow, orange and red. They are also called the 10 o’clock flowers since they are in full bloom at exactly 10 o’clock in the morning.

Propagating this plant is quite easy. It grows easily from cuttings. Mine are just days old but they are blooming instantly. It doesn’t need much water, it blooms all year round and grows best with lots of sunshine.

tagged V: vibrant

Vibrant means bright, vivid, brilliant, intense, glowing, rich, colorful, sparkling, alive.

As some of you know, my kitty Star was hospitalized recently due to anemia. She was there for 2 days and 2 nights. Now that she’s home and doing well and her appetite is back to normal, i am happy. The happiness that i’m feeling now is as VIBRANT as the colors of these flowers.

weekly travel theme: the four elements

This photo is my tribute to the four elements: earth, air, water and fire.

Do you know that the earth‘s atmosphere and the position of the sun from the horizon determines the colors of sunset? I’ve read that when the sun is closer to the horizon, the sun’s light passes through more air. This scatters away the shorter waves like blue and the colors that shine through are red, orange and yellow which makes the sunset appears to be fiery orange and/or red in color. The colors become even more dramatic as they are reflected on water.

weekly photo challenge: pattern

This ornamental kale has a pretty pattern of ruffled and crinkled edges. The bloom is not actually a flower but a foliage. This plant grows on cold places and the rosette will change from green to white to pink and purple and deep red.

weekly photo challenge: culture

Merriam defines Culture as the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group.

Although it is unique and defined to a particular society or country, it is constantly changing and evolving.

The way of living, dancing, dress or costume, eating, singing and talking or language is all parts of a culture.

Photos below are found at a souvenir shop in Shanghai China. These frames depict the different colorful Chinese costumes of old China. These costumes are still very much visible today on cultural plays and dramas.
