silent healing

We all experience emotional struggles and each of us has our own way on how to deal with it.

In my process of self-healing, i usually write quotes that i could relate to based on what i have experienced and what i am trying to heal from. It is not easy getting over pain, heartbreak and hurt and betrayal. Inspirational quotes motivate and inspire me to go on. They uplift my mood, encourage me to be positive and make me feel hopeful and happy.

And what else could make me happy? These cuties.

Star

Akiro

I just hug these fur babes and i would feel okay. Cat’s purr is believed to have therapeutic effects on human as it is both relaxing and healing. Cats spread a lot of positive energy too which is exactly what i need.

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: SILENCE

christmas 2017

From my family and furmily,

Marwind, a german shepherd who will soon turn 3yrs
Rafraf, a native local aspin dog that i adopted from the province. He is 2yrs old.
Tobi, a shitzu who just turned 5yrs
Kristina, my very first pet who is already 11 yrs old. Don’t let her age fool you, she is still a puppy at heart.
Star, (white persian cat; middle photo) my princess… my first cat. She will be turning 6 yrs at the end of 2017.
Boots, (gray persian cat) a foster fail.
Tiger, (white and orange cat) my 2nd cat. I adopted him from the shelter to be Star’s playmate. I just celebrated his 5th year adoptversary last October 2017.
Kuting, (gingercat) previously one of the outside cats that i feed but made him an indoor cat because he is just too sweet to be an outside cat.
Ashton, (tabby) i rescued him last 2015 as a teeny-weeny kitten fitting the palm of my hand. Now, he is a big boy who loves to eat.
Goldie, (black cat) a rescue. From a skinny, baldy, hungry, scarred cat he turned out to be a beautiful cat and i was surprised that he actually has semi-long coat.
Puti, (first photo) my special needs cat. Because she is deaf, sometimes her meows are so funny.

Also, from my outside cats (last photo),

Big Mama, Big Boy, Trico, TepTep and Lily.

and………………………..  lastly from AKI, a brand-new addition to my furmily. As in super brand-new as he just arrived at this very moment,

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Side Story:  While doing this post my son arrived home and surprised me with a new kitty…  his Christmas gift to me. Oh my gosh, truly unexpected and i cried with joy.. Here he is… AKI, a cute addition to my big furmily. Welcome home sweet baby.

Peace, Love and Happiness to all.

a jolly bee

I love taking photos of flowers after the rain. Rain droplets are awesome. Each and every one of them contains a clear miniature reflection of images. And they glitter like crystal beads.

But.. one photo gave me a surprise. Did i’ve just taken a photo of a bee? I zoomed it in and there it was… a bumble bee.

Did you see it? It’s at the upper right side of the photo. Here it is…

Today’s weather is awesome. The sun is shining but i could feel some cool breeze in the air. A lot of birds are flying by and made my front yard a stopover. Since i still have lots of leftover birdseed and sunflower seeds, i usually scatter some in front of the main door. While the birds are busy eating, the kitties are so happy watching them.

Here’s Ashton and Kuting having a wonderful day watching live cat tv.

caring for a special needs cat

Puti (means white in English) is my all white deaf kitty with sparkling blue eyes. She started out as my foster but i ended up giving her a forever home.

We never knew at first that she is deaf until one day when my son playfully made a loud noise while holding her and she didn’t even flinch. My son made more loud noises near her ears and never reacted. It was later on confirmed by the vet when she was spayed.

Puti has a funny meow. It is a combination of cresendo and decrescendo of meows. Oh i wish i could record it. Anyway, it may also be a sudden burst of meow that will surely catch your attention.

At feeding time, she’s the only one with the loudest meow. Sometimes it is so loud that i thought i might have stepped on her tail or what.

Here are some pointers on how to care for a deaf cat/kitty.

  • As much as possible, avoid disturbing a deaf kitty while asleep. Deaf cats startle so easily while a normal sleeping cat would almost always curl up more and welcome the gentle strokes as it lays sleeping. If there is a need to wake the kitty up just be gentle as much as possible.
  • Provide toys that produce sounds. Deaf cats may never hear the sound but they will surely feel the vibrations the toys make.
  • If you want to communicate with your deaf cat, place the cat’s body under your chin or chest so it could feel the vibrations as we speak. (I say “eat” when it’s time to eat. I say her name a few times during relaxed moments. I say “play” when it is time to play). I prefer to say one word than phrases so my cat could easily remember it and it worked.
  • Another way to communicate is to teach a deaf cat some simple hand signals. During feeding time, i do hand signals to Puti so she would sit before i give her bowl of food. I raise one finger (pointing up) which signals her to sit. Being constant is the trick. Now she knows and follows my hand signal.

Above pointers are all based on my own experience. I honestly BELIEVE that they could serve as a guide in dealing with a deaf cat. Just devote a little time, some patience and a little training.

My cat Puti may be a special needs cat but it doesn’t stop her from being so playful like any normal cats.

an awesome cat cafe experience

With about 6 cat cafes in the metro, Le Cat Cafe is the nearest to my place and just a short drive away.

Upon entering we were immediately greeted by the welcoming furry committee. Meet Barton, Butter and Prince Harry.

barton, butter and prince harry

Barton, the all white Ragamuffin Puspin is the very first one to greet us. He is fluffy and soft as a cotton. I could hug him all day. He is so sweet and friendly. Butter, a Ragamuffin is very affectionate. And Prince Harry, a Ragamuffin Persian would roll over to seek attention because he loves belly rubs.

sophie

My sister told me that if ever there’s a cat that she would want to take home, it’s going to be Sophie. Her almost cross-eyed looks make her even more adorable . She is really a sweetheart.

arthur

Little Arthur, an exotic short haired Persian cat loves sleeping. He’s the one i would love to take home.

kid

Kid, also a Ragamuffin Persian is very lovable and huggable. He has long thick soft fur, loves attention and enjoys to be petted.

rocket

Rocket, the Scottish Fold was almost asleep the whole time we’re there.

mochi

Mochi, is a Napoleon according to the staff but is quite long-legged.

Snack time is so enjoyable and entertaining to watch. All the furry babies scrambled for every CRUMB of cat treats. Finally, we got to see all of them.

And here are the rest of the kitties including Ashley the American Curl, Orange the American Shorthair, Happy the Ragamuffin Persian and Tyrion the Munchkin.

ashley, happy, tyrion, etc.

With all the international breeds of cats around, the cat cafe has a Puspin which is our local domestic cat breed. A big shout out to Charlie, the 2 year old male Puspin. I love his nice coat patterns.

charlie

We paid P199.00 or about less than 2 US dollars inclusive of one hot coffee and 2 hours stay at the cat lounge. We were so lucky that we have all the cats just to ourselves as we were the only visitors. I guess i need to thank the bad weather for that as it has been raining almost the whole day yesterday. It is really best to visit the place on ordinary days because during weekends, the staff said that the place is filled to the brims.

A few observations and suggestions:

  • All the cats are well groomed. They look good and smell good. Just furrfect! They are well taken cared of and most of all they are so friendly and social. Almost all of them seeks and craves for attention.
  • The cat cafe is clean and neat and airconditioned. But it is rather small. Parking area is very limited too. The good news as told by the staff, is they would soon move to a bigger place before the year ends and hopefully with a bigger parking area.
  • They have limited novelty items for sale. I suggested that they should offer more like journals, pencils and pens, mugs, figurines, key chains, etc. Of course with cat prints or designs on them that most cat lovers would love to buy and collect.
  • Photos of the fur babies should be updated as not all the cats’ photos are on the wall. We always ask the staff for the names of other cats.
  • I hope they would think about having more local cats or Puspins and putting them up for adoption. There are so many rescued local cats that need forever homes. Or maybe partnering with a cat rescue organization or a shelter which would certainly provide them with lots of adoptable cats.

Overall experience. It’s a fun activity bonding with the cats. The 2 hour experience surely gave me that wonderful happy feeling. Absolutely worth it! The staff is very accommodating and they even gave us a loyalty card. I would love to visit them again someday.

Goldie is my number 7

When i had my first cat Star i really planned it out that i would adopt another cat so she would have a playmate and a sibling. I am so happy with two cats and now within a span of 5 years they are 7.

There’s Star, adopted Tiger to be Star’s playmate, fostered Boots when his humans left for Dubai to work, rescued a teeny-weeny Ashton almost 2 years ago, rescued Kuting when i found him beaten up with his tail almost severed, adopted Puti an all white deaf kitty from my mother and… then Goldie who showed up on my terrace about 6 months ago, very thin, begging for food, love and attention. Click here to see how he looks like when i first saw him.

GOLDIE, you are my number 7.

only a cat parent would understand

I am TEMPTED to wake him up. But i can’t. I could see Boots feeling so relaxed with his eyes closed and his paw on my laptop. I need to use my laptop sweetie but it’s okay, i could wait.

20161214_215848aaa

I am TEMPTED to wake her up. But i can’t. I could see that Puti is having a nice nap on my bag. But honey, i need to get something from my bag. Oh well, i could wait for a while.

red velvety flower and gingers

This LOCAL red velvety flower is called cockscomb. While some really grow these plants i also see them as wildflowers and commonly growing in vacant lots. I was surprised to see some of these plants on my planter just outside my fence and i remembered that a neighbor has been growing these in her garden and i’m sure that some of the seeds were just blown by the wind. I am not protesting though as they are so gorgeous.

And… speaking of reds, my gingercats are happily modelling a red collar. (Note: red cats are also referred to as gingers, marmalade or orange cats.) This collar is TIGER’s but i let KUTING wear it too. Let’s see who wears it better.

Looks like my adorable models are having fun. Yes, mommy is having fun too because they look so handsomely cute.

my forever

I have a complicated love life. Married twice and both ended in failures.

When i got married the first time, i never thought it will end. We had so many dreams and so many plans and a lot of promises but things did not turn out the way it is supposed to be. Things happen like major disagreements, problems in finances, immaturity, incompatibility and the relationship ended.

Again, I wasn’t lucky the second time around in searching for that chance to be happy again. I thought that maybe this time it would last forever. How wrong i was.. there’s no FOREVER. The relationship collapsed because of lies, deception, cheating and empty promises. The act of cheating and lying are definitely not mistakes because they are intentional and that’s why it was so hurting. I found it really hard to move past the hurt when TRUST was broken so there was no use for me to be in that kind of relationship anymore. The more i stay in the relationship, the more it was hurting me so getting out of that is the best decision ever … i’ve  felt that URGENT need to escape so i could maintain my sanity otherwise i would really go crazy dealing with too much anger. Oh well, enough of these dramas.

Let’s kick the blues away by starting the day with a smile and be happy.

20160916_084418aaa

And one of my sources of happiness are… There’s Star, Tiger, Boots, Kuting, Ashton and my new foster Puti that bring so much smile and happiness. There’s Marwind, Kristina, Rafraf and Tobi that make me laugh when they are acting like goof balls. (Visit my About page to see their photos).

Among my kitties, these two are really BFFs. They groom each other, sleep together and play together. I love them forever.

curly and luminous

During a visit to our family dentist, i took some photos of their saltwater aquarium. I remembered taking the photos during the day and i did not even turned on the flash. The resulting photos are awesome. The neon green and pink corals are shining and radiating and are glowing in WATER. I love those gleaming green curls.

coralsaaa

And speaking of curls, here’s Boots sporting some curly whiskers. Among my other kitties, he is the only one giving me head bumps and i know it’s his own way of showing me love and affection. I just love it when he does that. So sweet.

20160801_122338aaa

As i am typing this, Boots is doing just that… lots of head bumps.
