a jolly bee

I love taking photos of flowers after the rain. Rain droplets are awesome. Each and every one of them contains a clear miniature reflection of images. And they glitter like crystal beads.

But.. one photo gave me a surprise. Did i’ve just taken a photo of a bee? I zoomed it in and there it was… a bumble bee.

Did you see it? It’s at the upper right side of the photo. Here it is…

Today’s weather is awesome. The sun is shining but i could feel some cool breeze in the air. A lot of birds are flying by and made my front yard a stopover. Since i still have lots of leftover birdseed and sunflower seeds, i usually scatter some in front of the main door. While the birds are busy eating, the kitties are so happy watching them.

Here’s Ashton and Kuting having a wonderful day watching live cat tv.

Stop for a while and enjoy the little things in life like the beauty of the flowers… so brightly colored, loving and embracing the warmth of the sun…

everlasting

A trip to Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines wouldn’t be complete without everlasting flowers. It is always a tradition to bring these flowers home as souvenirs. Luckily, i found these gems in one of the stalls at the mall where they showcase different produce from every region or provinces. See, i don’t have to travel 5 hours or more to reach Baguio just to buy these beauties. As soon as i’ve seen them, my mind travels back in time to the first time i traveled to Baguio.

Everlasting only grows in high altitude places. Flowers when fresh have very intense and rich colors but will slightly fade as it dry and will retain their firmness throughout the year. Dried everlasting will last forever.

And you my Star is my everlasting love.

I love how you always stay by my side when we sleep. I love how you greet me with kitty kisses on my nose. I love how you curiously stare at me and watch me when you’re on my your pillow or even from afar. You always make me smile.

lucky finds

Lucky find no. 1.
Twelve (12) years after it was planted in 2004 when we moved in to our new home, this flowering shrub is still thriving. It endured so many destructive typhoons, withstood the strongest rain and wind, endured the hottest weather during summer and yet it never fails to give me the sweetest and most white flowers season after season.

Lucky find no. 2.
I found a whisker today. I’m sure that i’m not the only one who smiles finding this rare gem. I usually tape it on my planner on the date i found it. If you are a catmom, you just know as to whom the whisker belongs to. Ashton’s whisker (the one in the photo) is medium length, thick and with a dark gray root. Boots being a persian has whiskers that are longer with a slightly gray root. Star being an all white persian has long white and soft whiskers. Tiger a gingercat has long soft white whiskers with a bit of an orange-y root. Kuting, also a gingercat has medium length thick white whiskers. Puti a domestic short hair kitten has baby soft short white whiskers.

It is believed that finding a cat’s whisker is a sign of good luck. I consider them as sweet mementos, cute little treasures and fun things to collect.

Do you collect cat whiskers like i do?

sleeping beauty

Finally, the orchids awakened from their deep slumber and bloomed. I remembered i was just talking to them (yes, i talk to my orchids hehe!) the week before and i was telling them that they are supposed to be flowering by now. And today… these beauties greeted me this morning. Thank you orchids. Hmm… did they really ABIDE by my request?

I love the crinkled edges of the flower’s intermediate lobe and they really give it that distinct dainty characteristic. Oh, did you notice the insect inside? Surely, it was attracted by its mild sweet scent.

And speaking of beauties… here’s a photo of my sleeping beauty.

Star loves to sleep on my pillow. I usually reserve a pillow just for her because when i hop in bed she would follow and lay beside me.

Happy Sunday everyone!

almost there

As promised, here’s my 2nd installment of a series of photos about the flowers in my garden. Today, some of the buds opened up but younger ones will surely bloom by tomorrow… yes almost there.

20160729_113621aaa

I was hoping for a more vivid and bright photos but the WIND is preventing me from doing that so some of my photos looked a bit blurred and dreamy. I also tried taking photos of the butterflies feasting on its nectar but they were so elusive.

20160729_113941aaa

Since not all buds have unfolded, more photos coming soon tomorrow.

By the way, Boots is my laptop buddy for today. He’s so sound asleep but i just couldn’t resist his sweet face so i give him kisses and chin rubs from time to time.

Wishing everyone a happy weekend.

ready to bloom

I woke up this morning finding Star intently staring at me. I noticed that it’s only 6:30am and since i was feeling a bit lazy i stayed tucked in bed, watched the early news and finally went downstairs at 8:30am. I was greeted by all the other kitties and my son told me why i was late in waking up and informed me it’s actually 11:30am. Oh my gosh, my wall clock maybe stopped in the middle of the night and was 3 hours late. Poor fur babies, late feeding time today.

20160728_015155aaa

“You’re late mom, come feed me… i’ve been waiting for hours.”

It was a stressful morning doing all the chores simultaneously. Anyway, seeing these flower buds in my garden made my day. They are so ready and UNSTOPPABLE to burst open. For sure, i would find them in full bloom tomorrow. Ooh, i couldn’t wait.

This plant is called garlic vine and is also known as garlic creeper because of the garlicky smell of the leaves and flowers when crushed. When in full bloom, they are a sight to behold. More photos coming soon…

cheery and bright

Colorful, vibrant and cheery lantana flowers that lined the side walk are for the eyes to FEAST on. As i begin to photograph them a happy butterfly is as enthusiastic as me as it began to fly from one flower to another. It also feasted on their sweetness feeding on nectar.

20160718_122828aaa

The butterfly is so elusive as i try to take some photos. And almost missed it.

20160718_123217aaa

Yey, gotcha.. i almost missed again.

20160718_123033aaa

Oops, it flew… it’s almost out of range.

20160718_123226aaa

And finally, the butterfly is in the range and i guess this is the best shot.

20160718_123234aaa

I looked so silly hopping from one flower to another just to take some photos but it’s fun.

Happy Wednesday! And to add brightness to your day, here’s Ashton my laptop buddy for today showing off his whiskers and his itty-bitty tongue. Please enjoy!

my journey out of the storm

I have been feeling a little bit unpleasant these past few days. Well, not because of the gloomy weather but it is because of some bumps i encounter during my long JOURNEY out of the “STORM“. As i’ve shared in one of my previous blog posts, i am in the process of moving on. As far as my feelings are concerned, i am okay, i’ve moved on. Love is long gone and there is no way for it to come back. Trust and respect are major factors in a relationship and if they’re gone, love is gone too. But sometimes, my journey is not going smooth as i want it to be. How would you feel if someone wanted you to spit out all the “candies” you have eaten and count them one by one. They are just material things. All the material things i received and enjoyed during the course of the relationship are not enough to ease away all the pain and the emotional trauma i have experienced.

Anyway, enough of the drama.

These lovely pink roses surely help to brighten up my day…

Note to self:
I am a strong person and that no amount of negativity could shatter my journey towards happiness.

rain droplets and a brick

We have been experiencing rain today due to an upcoming storm. As soon as it stopped, i took the chance of taking photos of rain droplets and here they are.

This kind of weather makes me crave for comfort food. And speaking of comfort food, this reminds me of one of my all-time favorites… the onion brick. Yes, a very thick brick of onion rings.

20160614_134631aaa

This brick consists of layers upon LAYERS of mildly spicy, lightly battered onion rings deep fried to a crisp paired with bbq sauce and remoulade. So yummy! Oh how i wish i could copy the restaurant’s recipe and cook this at home.

And here’s sleepy Tiger enjoying the warmth of my laptop. This kind of weather makes me sleepy too.
