cee’s fun foto challenge: texture

It was really hot today and i’ve heard in the news that the temperature rose to 35.2 degrees in the metro. Anyway, i managed to take some photos in the garden. These are photos of a zamia cone.

Zamia is a wonderful indoor/outdoor plant. Instead of flowers, it grows cones with a beautiful texture. It’s actual size is only about 1.5 inches. On close up, its texture looks like a carpet of flowers arranged so close together. So pretty isn’t it?

thank you barbara.. i’ve been seeing those cones in my plants every now and then but it was really the first time i photographed it.. i never realized how awesome would be its texture when i finally uploaded the photos on my laptop.. the cone is just about 1.5 to 2 inches only so the texture wouldn’t be that visible unless taking a photo on macro.

thank you otto.. i’ve been seeing it often on my zamia plants but this is the first time that i took photos of the cone.. i’m glad i did as i’ve seen how it is up close.. the cone is rather small at 1.5 inches.

thank you for the info.. if i recall, the male parts of the plants are more pointed,, hope i’m right.. i guess all my plants are female as i’ve never seen male parts yet.
